Imagined after Paolo Veronese
A landscape with a garden, shot in portrait
After Paolo Veronese, made 2026-08-25. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have taken a garden as my subject because it offered me room to place what my judgement found fitting — blooming flowers, a fountain perhaps, a glimpse of architecture beyond, all those ornaments that fill out a composition where beauty and invention may run freely. As I testified before the tribunal when they questioned my Last Supper, painters claim the same licence that poets and madmen take, and I have added such figures and details as seemed proper to make the scene abundant and whole.
The format stands upright, as one would frame a portrait, so the eye travels not across a frieze but upward through the garden's layers — from the flowerbeds nearest us, past a central statue or urn, toward the distant colonnade or terrace that closes the view. I have kept the light clear and even, letting colour do its work without harsh shadow, so that the greens of foliage, the pale stone, and the bright silks of any figures who walk there all hold together in luminous harmony. My aim, as always, is to give rein to joy, to make beauty festive and the whole scene radiant, so the viewer feels not drama but splendor — an overflowing abundance that delights the eye and lifts the spirit.
