Imagined after Titian
The prince
After Titian, made 2026-08-05. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have just completed a new work depicting the prince, and in painting him I have pursued what has always been the heart of my art: to bring the living presence of the figure before the viewer through the glow and warmth of colour itself. As my pupil Palma recalled, I laid in the picture boldly at the start, then turned it to the wall for months; returning as if to a rival's work, I corrected and rebuilt the flesh through many glazes, working in the final touches as much with my fingers as with my brush, until the prince stood before me in breathing life.
The composition places his bulk firmly within the frame, the massive diagonal of his robes caught in open, broken brushwork that flashes with reflected light rather than describing every thread — as I did with Pietro Aretino, using the stroke itself to convey vitality and command. His warm golden flesh glows against the darker ground, each surface rendered with its own touch: skin, velvet, and silk each speaking in its own voice. The direct gaze locks the viewer to his presence. I want you to feel not distance but immediacy — the warmth of living encounter, the power held in check, the prince as he breathes.
