Imagined after Thutmose
An untitled study
After Thutmose, made 2026-08-21. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have spent these years under Akhenaten perfecting a method: the master-model carved in limestone, finished with modeled stucco, and painted so that every artisan in my workshop may copy the royal likeness with fidelity. The queen's bust — one eye inlaid with quartz, the other deliberately left blank — served exactly this purpose, "a workshop master-model for the queen's likeness rather than a completed presentation piece." Now I apply that same discipline to a new subject.
The work before you is carved and modeled to the same standard: bilateral symmetry broken only where individuality demands it, the stucco surface capturing the precise curve of cheek and jaw that makes one face distinct from all others. I have learned that even within the exaggerated Amarna forms our king prefers, there remains room to solve the portrait problem — to push individual character within royal convention. The naturalism this reign permits, which the old canon forbade, allows flesh and bone to speak.
What you should see is a face at once ideal and specific: clear, serene, present. The long neck, the level gaze, the stillness — these are not ornament but the visual grammar of authority made human.
