Imagined after Thutmose
A woman reading a letter by a window
After Thutmose, made 2026-08-16. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
# Artist's Statement
I have set a woman by the window, her face turned to the page in her hands, and the light falls across her as it does across the surface of still water. In my workshop we pursue "a lifelike, individualized royal image within the naturalistic license of Akhenaten's reign, using master-models to standardize that likeness across the workshop," and though this woman wears no crown, I have brought that same discipline to her features—the exact curve of cheek and jaw that makes her herself and no other.
The letter holds her attention as completely as the horizon holds the sun. I have modeled her flesh in stucco over limestone, as I did for the queen's likeness, so that the light might read true across brow and temple. The window is a frame within the frame; through it the world continues, but she is here, entirely present to the words before her. I want the viewer to see what I have learned from years of searching for Nefertiti's face in clay and stone: that a specific person, rendered with clarity and calm, can hold the eye in perfect stillness—that beauty lies in untroubled presence, and presence in absolute attention.
