Imagined after Thutmose
A man
After Thutmose, made 2026-08-05. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
# Artist's Statement
I have just completed a portrait study of a man, working as I always do: limestone beneath my chisel, then stucco modeled over the carved form, and finally paint to bring the surface to life. This piece serves my workshop as a master-model — one eye remains deliberately unfinished so that my assistants may refer to it when rendering this face in future works, just as I did with the study heads of the royal family.
Under our king's reforms, I am no longer bound by the old rigid canon. I am free to pursue what I see: the exact curve of jaw, the particular set of the eyes, the way an individual's character lives in the bones of the face. As with my studies of Akhenaten and Nefertiti, I test how far I can push the specific without losing the clarity of royal form. The long practice of carving, modeling, and painting has given me command enough to make flesh speak through stone.
Let the viewer meet a person, not a type — a face at once ideal and unmistakably his own, present and still.
