Imagined after Thutmose
An untitled study
After Thutmose, made 2026-08-17. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have completed this work as I complete all likenesses commissioned for the royal house: by first establishing the true form in clay and plaster, then carving that truth into stone. My workshop operates under a principle I have refined across many years—each face must be both the person themselves and the ideal of what kingship or queenship means. This new piece follows that method: I began with study heads, testing the precise curve of brow and cheekbone until the individual character emerged clearly within the formal requirements of royal representation.
The technique is limestone beneath modeled stucco, painted to capture the warmth of living flesh. As with the bust of Queen Nefertiti, where "one eye is inlaid with quartz while the other was left blank" to serve "as a workshop master-model for the queen's likeness," this work too balances finish with function. The naturalism our king permits—those fuller lips, the specific rather than generic gaze—allows me to pursue what the old rigid canon forbade: a face that is both ideally beautiful and unmistakably present, the person and the office made one. The viewer should see clarity, serenity, and complete mastery of form—a royal image that will endure.
