Imagined after Thutmose
A woman
After Thutmose, made 2026-07-21. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have finished a new study head, this time not of the queen but of a woman whose name the palace does not require me to record. The work follows the method established in my workshop: carved limestone, built up with modeled stucco, and left unpainted so the form itself can be read cleanly. As with the portrait studies of Nefertiti and Akhenaten, I am testing how individual character can be pushed within the naturalistic license our king permits—how to find the exact curve of cheek and jaw that will make this face, and no other, recognizable.
The missing eye is deliberate. This is a master-model, meant to fix her likeness so that any craftsman in the workshop can reproduce it faithfully. One inlaid iris would anchor the proportions; the second is left for later work to complete. What I seek is the same quality I found in the queen's bust: "a face at once ideal and specific," where perfect bilateral symmetry holds a living presence. The long neck, the level gaze, the untroubled calm—these are not merely beautiful. They are a portrait problem solved: how far the new forms can carry an individual soul.
