Imagined after Thutmose
A woman reading a letter by a window
After Thutmose, made 2026-08-16. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have completed a new work in painted limestone and stucco: a woman reading a letter by a window. The subject allowed me to continue the search I pursue in every portrait study — how to capture a specific face in a moment that feels both eternal and immediate. Here, natural light falls across her features as she absorbs private words, and I have tried to model that instant where thought shows itself in the slightest tilt of the head, the quiet focus of the eyes.
The technique follows the method proven in my workshop's likenesses of the queen: "carved limestone finished with modeled stucco and painted," layering color over form to achieve flesh that reads as living presence. I left the composition uncluttered — window, letter, face — so the viewer encounters her directly, without ornament to distract from the essential: a mind at work behind features I have rendered with all the naturalism our time permits.
What I want you to feel is what I seek in every face: that this is a real woman, caught in a real moment, yet composed with the clarity and serenity that make her image endure beyond that moment. Presence made permanent.
