Can you make this feel more in the Russell style
After Charles M. Russell, made 2026-10-12. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I've spent my life trying to set down the West as I knew it—riding night herd in the Judith Basin, watching the buffalo herds thin, seeing the open range close up before my eyes. That world is gone now, vanished in my own lifetime, and everything I paint is a record of what was. This new piece reaches back to that same country and time, trying to capture the truth of it: the strain of rope and muscle, the kick of dust under a hard sun, the way animals move when they're truly worked and not just posed in some studio.
I paint from memory, from having lived it, and I work to get the anatomy right—the hock of a horse, the set of a man's shoulders against a pull—because that lived truth is all that matters. The palette stays warm and dusty, earth-browns and ochres under pale sky, the kind of light that rakes low across the plains. The composition pulls outward along lines of action and tension, the way a cinch ring strains or a herd surges. I want the viewer to feel the energy and motion of that vanished frontier, the vitality that made it real.
