The statement

I have tried to seize the living moment of lamplight falling through a darkened interior, making the chandelier itself the heart of the picture. A work of art, as I have always insisted, "is not an end in itself but the expression of the artist's own living response to the world"—what I call the art spirit—and here my response is to the way shadow and warm illumination can transform a room into something both intimate and charged with feeling.

I painted this directly, wet-into-wet, working quickly to keep the first vivid impression alive in the paint. The palette stays muted and tonal—deep browns, soft ambers, grays dissolving into darkness—so that the chandelier's glow pulls the eye and holds it. I have let edges blur and dissolve where shadow takes over, concentrating the light where it matters most. My aim, as always, is not a polished rendering but a record of sensation: the mood of the space, the vitality of lamplight against encroaching dark, the atmosphere that speaks before any detail does. I want the viewer to feel the room's presence as I felt it—moody, alive, immediate.
