Imagined after Frederic Remington
This group scene with love and joy. Important that people are in period clothing, keep all people
After Frederic Remington, made 2026-07-13. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I confess this is new ground for me. For years I have thrown all my energy into recording the horse soldier, the scout watching an empty ridge, the cowboy clinging to a bucking bronc — scenes charged with what I call "vitality," that raw physical force of men and animals straining against a hard land. As I recalled even in my youth out West, "I sensed the wild riders, the open land, and the soldiers and Native peoples I saw were about to vanish, and I resolved to record that world before it disappeared for good." Every bit of tack, every weapon, every detail of dress I have drawn from firsthand observation, insisting on the accuracy of a field reporter.
But here I turn to something quieter: a gathering where love and joy, not danger or endurance, hold the figures together. The period clothing remains exact — I will not sacrifice authenticity — yet the composition must carry warmth rather than the watchful tension or violent motion that have defined my work. It is a different kind of strength, the fortitude not of a lonely scout but of people who choose to stand together. I hope the viewer feels that resilience, that capacity to recover and grow, which has always run beneath the surface of the West I have tried to preserve.
