The statement

# Artist's Statement

I have spent years in the West convinced that the world I am witnessing — the open range, the hard riders, the life lived entirely on horseback — is already slipping away, and I am determined to set it down before it vanishes for good. This new canvas returns to that mission with the directness of a field report: the gear, the posture, the very cut of the saddle drawn from what I have seen firsthand, because accuracy is the foundation of any honest picture.

Yet I am no longer content to merely illustrate. In my recent work I have been pushing toward something broader — higher color, atmospheric handling, mood over anecdote — and here I have tried to charge the scene with the raw physical energy that defines this life. The composition throws the figure forward, the horse caught in the full extension of effort, every line driving outward to convey not just what the cowboy does but the vitality and tenacity it demands. I want the viewer to feel the grip, the endurance, the fortitude required to hold on in a hard land, and to recognize that this world, for all its vigor, will not last.
