Imagined after Frederic Remington
This group scene with love and joy. Important that people are in period clothing no shorts or tennis shoes, I repeat, no shorts or tennis shoes
After Frederic Remington, made 2026-07-13. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have just completed a group scene animated by love and joy — an uncommon register for me, I grant, but one the Old West certainly knew. Even as a young man out there I sensed that the wild riders, the open land, and the soldiers and Native peoples I saw were about to vanish, and I resolved to record that world before it disappeared for good. That resolve extends to moments of fellowship and celebration, not only to the dash for timber or the lonely scout's watch.
The figures wear correct period dress — hats, boots, wool trousers, calico, and leather — because I have always prided myself on documentary accuracy: correct horses, tack, weapons, and cavalry and Native dress drawn from firsthand observation in the West. No detail is guessed at; authenticity is the bedrock on which any picture must stand. The composition gathers the group in a tight, human cluster, their gestures and expressions carrying the warmth I intend. Broad, direct brushwork and a higher-keyed palette — learned from my recent nocturnes — favor mood over anecdote, letting affection and shared vitality breathe through the scene before that world slips away entirely.
