The statement
I have spent thirty years chasing the last riders of a West that is disappearing beneath my feet. As I wrote long ago, even when I was a young man out there I sensed that the wild riders, the open land, the soldiers and Native peoples I saw were about to vanish, and I resolved to record that world before it disappeared for good. This new picture—"all chaos goes wild"—throws every ounce of that raw physical energy into a single moment when control breaks and the whole frame erupts.
I built my reputation on getting the details right: correct horses, tack, weapons, the cavalry and Native dress I drew from firsthand observation in the West. But in recent years I have moved beyond illustration toward something closer to fine art, adopting higher-keyed color and atmospheric handling that favors mood over anecdote. Here I marry both ambitions. The gear is authentic, the motion plausible, yet the composition itself is pure storm—plunging horses, twisting riders, every diagonal driving outward as order collapses into violent scatter. The palette stays direct and forceful, the brushwork broad enough to let you feel the strain and thunder without losing the documentary truth beneath.
I want you to see what I saw: a hard, muscular world meeting its breaking point with unflinching vigor.
