The statement

I have painted a sacred encounter stripped to its essence — no cross to anchor the eye, no landscape to soften the meeting. The figures fill the panel and hold one another in attitudes that I drew again and again until the line itself became feeling. In the drawings you will find elongated bodies, restless contours; on the panel those same forms stack and tilt in shallow space where color — not perspective — does the structural work.

The mourning in my Deposition at Santa Felicita becomes the subject because I removed the narrative furniture; what remains is the holding of the body, carried by pairing and interlocking pose. Here I have worked the same method. The palette is unnatural — mint against rose, lemon against cloud — because I want color to be the encounter itself, not mere description of local surfaces. My Visitation showed four monumental women in fluorescent greens after restoration; that acid brightness is courtly and nervous, a kind of grace that cannot rest.

The viewer should feel the instability, the floating pile of limbs and drapery, and understand that grief or meeting is made bodily when you take away the ground.
