Imagined after The Painter of Nebamun
An untitled study
After The Painter of Nebamun, made 2026-10-06. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have painted this work for the tomb-chapel as I painted the hunting in the marshes, the cattle brought for inspection, and the garden pool—all images of the good life that continues after death. "The fragments are mineral pigment in a glue medium on mud plaster—a secco wall painting laid out on the Egyptian proportional canon," and as before, "the workshop's distinction is the observation allowed inside that grid." I begin with the canon of proportions, the measured structure that holds the figure in its proper order, but within that framework I let the world show its spring: the particular markings on a hide, the zigzag of disturbed water, the separate clarity of each fish and bird. The tomb owner stands as the still center, and around him the estate and the marsh come alive with what he wishes to see forever. I paint in clean flat color inside a dark contour so that everything remains readable—no form lost in shadow or confusion—yet I draw the animals and the birds with a looseness that lets them move. This is not decoration but provision: a world of plenty and motion fixed in paint for eternity.
