A gen-z young man throwing a tantrum wuith a shreik, after Edvard Munch

The statement

I was walking through the city when I saw him — a young man, face contorted, mouth torn open in a shriek — and I felt again that infinite scream passing through nature. It was the same trembling anxiety I sensed years ago above the fjord when "the sky turned blood red" and I "sensed an infinite scream passing through nature." This is not a portrait of one boy's anger but a feeling made visible — the same dread that runs through my Frieze of Life, that poem of life, love, and death drawn from lived experience.

I have scraped and reworked the surface, letting the paint run and the colour bleed, just as I did endlessly with 'The Sick Child,' trying "to recapture the first impression" rather than a finished likeness. The undulating lines of his body echo the waving bands of sky and shore in 'The Scream' — form and feeling fused into one vibrating wave. The steep perspective pulls the viewer into his isolation, his loneliness in the modern world.

I do not paint what he looks like. I paint what he feels, what I feel through him — raw, authentic, inescapable.
