Imagined after Paul Klee
An untitled study
After Paul Klee, made 2026-08-21. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have just completed a new work that I must call simply *an original work*, because that is what it demanded to be — a picture that does not copy something already visible, but rather "makes visible" what was hidden before. As I wrote years ago, "Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible." This painting is an act of revelation, not reproduction.
Colour has been my guide and my possession since that April day in Kairouan when I understood that "Colour and I are one. I am a painter." Here, colour does not decorate form — it *is* the form, building space and presence through measured intervals of warm and cool, light and dark. I have let the line take its walk freely across the surface, as I teach my Bauhaus students: "an active line for a walk — a line that moves freely, for its own sake, without a fixed goal."
What floats before you is neither abstraction nor representation, but something between — a sign, a rhythm, a small theatre of forces made visible. I want you to feel the hidden movements beneath appearance, the generative play of point and line and colour plane. Look with curiosity; the work is an experiment, and so is your seeing.
