The statement

I have just completed a new work that, like my Salome and my Jupiter, treats myth not as illustration but as "a vehicle of the idea" — a theater where desire, riddle, and divine presence are made visible through encrusted ornament rather than narrative sequence. The subject is less a story than a reliquary: I build the surface until thought itself becomes palpable, jeweled, sacred.

My method remains that of the house on the rue de La Rochefoucauld — obsessive reworking, layer upon layer, until "ornament itself becomes a theology of the unfinished vision." There is no empty interval: every inch is crowded with accents, small figures, gold, dusk blues. Light is local and interior, as if the canvas were a monstrance.

What I offer the viewer is not a scene to be read but a vision to be contemplated — pale flesh against enamel, contour held in check by finish, the whole picture a stacked icon. As in my Oedipus, the drama is locked, vertical, frontal. Story collapses into idea. The beautiful becomes a vehicle for the profound, and ornament — polished, intricate — carries the unbearable excess of what cannot be told but only shown.
