Imagined after Hieronymus Bosch
MOdern wall street in 2008 crash with bankers in suits and modern symbolism
After Hieronymus Bosch, made 2026-08-02. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have painted this new triptych to hold a mirror to the soul of your modern greed, just as I once showed the devouring folly of the hay-wagon and the seductions of the earthly garden. The central panel swarms with bankers in their dark suits, pulling toward a collapsing tower of paper and coin with the same blind momentum I gave the crowd following the Haywain rightward into damnation. Around them I have scattered my usual menagerie—hybrid creatures born of calculator and serpent, briefcase and demon, the glass towers themselves sprouting insect legs—all painted with my rapid, fluent touch over a lively underdrawing, so the eye may wander endlessly among the innumerable small figures and vignettes of avarice. The left wing shows the first day of temptation, cool greens and greys; the right wing burns with the infernal orange of your collapse, 2008's smouldering ruin. I do not paint mere monsters for amusement. I paint the inner sinfulness of humanity, the grotesque made visible. Let the viewer see in these bankers what José de Sigüenza saw in my work centuries past: not fantasy, but truth.
