Imagined after Hieronymus Bosch
A gathering for feast
After Hieronymus Bosch, made 2026-10-09. An AI-imagined work, credited after the artist and grounded in documented technique; not a historical work.
The statement
I have painted this gathering for feast as I paint all earthly pleasures — not to celebrate them, but to reveal the folly coiled within. The table groans with abundance, yet around it I have scattered innumerable small figures, each consumed by appetite, vanity, or some subtler sin. My intent, as always, is to hold a mirror to the soul: these are not monsters from without but the deformities we harbour within, made visible.
The composition spreads across a high, panoramic view so the eye may wander endlessly among the vignettes of excess and temptation, just as the soul wanders among its own desires. I work rapidly, with thin, fluent layers over a lively underdrawing, letting the paint remain transparent and sketch-like rather than laboured. The festive greens and warm ochres of the banquet will darken toward the edges, where the consequences of gluttony and pride begin to smoulder — a physical momentum toward ruin.
Let the viewer look closely and find himself reflected in these revellers: not fantastical creatures, but humanity unmasked, feasting while the infernal fire waits just beyond the frame.
