The statement

# Artist's Statement

I have set out once more to capture that sublime scale and grandeur which the American West forces upon any honest observer. This new work, drawn from studies of ranch country, continues my practice of assembling field observations into a finished composition designed to overwhelm the viewer with nature's magnificence.

The ranch landscape offers what I have always sought: vast horizontal sweep, luminous atmosphere, and that interplay of detailed foreground against hazy distance that builds true sublimity. I have worked as I always do—rapidly sketching from nature, then combining and heightening these studies in the studio to produce a canvas worthy of public exhibition. Golden light rakes across the near ground while cool glazes push the far peaks back into atmospheric blue, creating that stage-lit recession from dark repoussoir through radiant middle distance to the mountains beyond.

My aim remains unchanged: to convey the splendor and magnificence of the western wilderness to eastern audiences who have never stood before such grandeur. This is landscape painting as both high art and spectacle—a vision intended to inspire awe edged with the profound beauty that transcends mere comprehension.
