The statement

# Artist's Statement

I have long pursued what I believe landscape painting must achieve: to convey the sublime scale and grandeur of the American West to those who have never stood beneath its peaks. This new canvas takes its genesis from a ranch photograph — a fragment of light, land, and sky — which I have recomposed and heightened according to the principles that have guided my work from the Rocky Mountains to the Sierra Nevada.

As always, I began with the evidence of nature itself, but the finished work is no mere transcription. I have assembled the elements into an idealized composite panorama built to overwhelm the viewer with the luminous splendor of the scene. Warm light pools across the foreground meadow and structures, while layered glazes of cool atmospheric haze push the distant ranges back into depth, creating that theatrical recession that frames the wilderness as both magnificent spectacle and sublime force.

My aim remains what it has always been: to present the West not as documentary record but as radiant, awe-inspiring experience — landscape painting pursued as both high art and public attraction.
