The statement
# Artist's Statement
We have cast in brass, by the lost-wax method our guild has preserved across generations, the figure of a young man who engineers the towers that carry voices across the air. As we once worked under royal monopoly to "preserve the memory and authority of the oba in permanent metal, producing commemorative heads for ancestral altars and plaques recording court ceremony and history," we now honor a new kind of keeper of connection—one who binds his people together not through ancestral ritual but through the invisible pathways of modern communication.
The figure stands frontal and commanding, cast with the same "relief, undercutting, and fineness of detail" that our ancestors achieved in rendering coral-bead regalia and textile pattern. Every tool of his craft—the instruments, the safety vest, the tower itself rising behind him—is modeled strand by strand in the metal, catching real light as the commemorative heads once did on the royal altars. We give him the grave, idealized bearing of kingship, for he too holds a kind of authority: the mastery to keep his community connected, to make communication permanent and certain. In brass, his work will endure.
