Gerolamo Giovenone (1490–1555)
Piedmontese High Renaissance painter.
Gerolamo Giovenone (c. 1490–1555; also Girolamo) was a painter of Vercelli in Piedmont, in the circle of Gaudenzio Ferrari. He made oil panels for Piedmontese churches.
A Madonna and Child with Saint Apollonia is recorded on Commons as his (Wikidata work Q80566046). The file is not in the accession-numbered Vanderbilt Fine Arts Gallery category dump; its source field is the old Vanderbilt Kress collection page. Medium on Commons: oil on panel. Date in imageinfo: 1530. This file includes it because the Commons record ties the object to Vanderbilt's Kress group; it does not invent a second work.
The words the record keeps using: devout, tender, Piedmontese, oil-smooth.
